01. Ingredient order matters.
Ingredients are listed by weight, highest first. If sugar is second, it's the second most used thing in that product.
02. "Natural flavour" is a legal loophole.
It can mean a synthetic compound derived from a natural source. One phrase. Infinite room to hide. Most flavoured snacks in India use it freely.
03. Oil type matters more than fat quantity.
A snack can be "low fat" and still be fried in palm oil. The quantity isn't the problem. What it's made with is. Read the oil, not just the number.
Some brands swap palm oil for equally cheap alternatives — hydrogenated vegetable oil, interesterified fats, or refined oils with no nutritional benefit. Dropping palm oil is the first step. What you replace it with is the real question. Honest labels tell you exactly which oil, not just what was skipped.
